3D Printing Urban Garden

2022, COMPETITION PROPOSAL

together with Julia Zasada

PROJECT

With our project, we would like to use the opportunity to present the concept of a shared garden in Esch-sur- Sûre, which is a sample of answers to the problems mentioned in the previous paragraph and fully fits into the circular economy of the region. A vertical urban garden in the form of a 10 meters long wall made of modules with 3D printed clay plant pots is a place where residents can adopt a pot and plant their plants/vegetables/herbs in it. The entire structure can be irrigated with water from the Sûre River, thanks to a pump powered by a solar energy.

MATERIALS

The community garden consists of 26 garden modules.
Each module is built with:
-2 wooden pillars / wood sourced locally
-1 OSB plate
-up to 4 bricks / 3D printed with a local soil and fibers
-up to 5 plant pots / 3D printed with a local soil and fibers
-24 connectors / 3D printed with a local soil and fibers
-metal fixing elements
